Drive into Falls Creek, and the appropriately named Gateway is the first building you come to. Serving standard cafe fare at prices that you'd normally only find far away from a ski resort, it has become a very popular place for a quick bite, or glass of wine before heading back up the slopes for another run.

Numbered counter service keeps the lines short and the kitchen does well to prepare burgers, steak sandwiches, and pasta quickly and piping hot.

The Gateway isn't looking to be a chic 'apres-ski' dining room, nor does it take advantage of its location to hike up the prices. It provides simple, tasty meals efficiently and cheaply, and after paying for lift-tickets, resort-entry, and ski-hire, is perfect for anyone who goes to the mountain to ski, rather than be seen.
