100% Please note: The reviews below are more than 12 months old. Member Review by joanneSubmitted February, 2005 My friend and I went to Qizine restaurant last Saturday night. The menu has words to the effect of to ensure of an enjoyable dining experience, please switch you mobile phone to silent.
We complied with this instantly.
These words do not imply phones are not to be used. Whilst my friend quietly took a business call, I missed a call and was SMSing in reply. The owner came out twice to shout at me about breaking his restaurant rules in front of other diners, yelling that phones will not be tolerated in his restaurant. The 2nd time he returned with the menu for reference.
I paid the bill immediately so that we could leave and complained to the waitress of this man's rudeness and offensive behaviour. He came back out to shout at me a 3rd time about breaking his rules.
I am most disgusted to be shouted at in front of 12(?) other diners and treated like a misbehaving 5-year-old child. Why should I put up with such humiliation on my night off where I'm the paying customer? The customer is NOT always right but if he made the rules, he should stick to them and not move the goal posts. The request was for mobiles to be put on silent, it doesn't say do not use!
Where else is such behaviour by the restaurateur accepted? Certainly not any other restaurant I've ever been to in the past 15 years, ranging from fine dining to casual family cafes!! Why couldn't he ask me quietly for the phone to be put away, I am not unreasonable and would've complied with that!!
By the way, he forgot our order for fries. Reviews are opinions of the author and do not represent the views of FoodGod Victoria, Neolux Communications, or its employees, contractors or supporters. If you have any queries, please contact us.
