We were very disappointed with our dining experience at Othello. It was a birthday celebration and we had a table of 15 people. Firstly, the service was very ordinary. The waiters were "moody" and were not friendly or attentive at all. We had to constantly ask for service throughout the night so we could place drink orders and this was frustrating. Also, the food was quite "cheap". Having dined in many greek restaurants in Melbourne - this was by far the worst! - in terms of food and service. The cuts of meat were very cheap and the dips were lacking in flavour and way too salty. The seafood platters were not impressive - the prawns left much to be desired and the calamari was like rubber. This restaurant is extremely overpriced for what you actually get -- there was not enough food served i believe and this was quite ironic as we were paying for the "banquet". As the food served was sub-standard more of it would not have been worth our while anyway.... Save your money and go elsewhere as melbourne has much better greek restaurants and better value than this!! At the end of the night we were shocked to see that we were overcharged by $6 per person on the banquet fee which was clearly advertised on their menu as $39 per head, and they charged us $45 per person. When i called this to the waiter's attention, he was rude and the error was fixed without any sort of apology and we were made to feel like we were putting them out..... A very bad experience!! Choose elsewhere if considering this restaurant... It is NOT worth the money or your time.
