Having walked past the drawn curtains so many times, I had to find out what was beyond the door. Woah. Much like the land of Narnia or the Tardis perhaps the exterior of this establishment gives a false impression. It opens into an ornate dining and bar area reminiscent of the 1920's and then onto a huge courtyard, something increasingly rare in the inner city.

Wandering in on a balmy night the courtyard was the ideal spot, and thinking of food our group went to order (as is custom here). I had never thought you could be stingy with menus, however apparently I was wrong, and reminiscent of a strong matron character we were told what we could and couldn't order. I didn't ask questions.

When the food came they were almost forgiven. Interesting and inviting, it did not disappoint, with my roast duck with beetroot reduction being a wonderful salty sweet combination. The gnocchi with blue cheese that was ordered was also on the money, contrasting the two well. A modern menu done well was our verdict, a place for erstwhile discovery. As popular as it is for those who have ventured in, add some friendly service and this place would be an absolute gem.
