100% Please note: The reviews below are more than 12 months old. Member Review by GarySubmitted August, 2006 The low standards that some of Melbourne's eateries have sunk to is clearly evidenced here. The menu presented to us was quite different - especially on price - to the one outside (the direction of the variance is predictable).
Main courses that were meant to be served hot arrived cold - and were simply dissembled and partly reheated to overcome the problem- resulting in very ordinary fare - my vegetables were no warmer than when I sent them back! One brief apology was not even accompanied by a compensatory bread roll. I wish I had walked out and refused to pay; the good Yarra Valley red we had was enough to keep me going. My partner said her lamb tart was quite good - once it was reheated - but the accompaniments were sadly lacking.
With mains around $35 and some wine margins beyond reckoning on a very poor wine list, it's a miracle this place survives. Rated at 4.5 stars as a hotel, perhaps the theory is that overseas visitors with money don't know their food or wine.
A pleasant dining room with staff who have some clues - but who aren't too flash on follow-up. It's a shame you have to say you're from a city that tolerates places like this. A good place to avoid in my view. Reviews are opinions of the author and do not represent the views of FoodGod Victoria, Neolux Communications, or its employees, contractors or supporters.
