Keep an eye on the time at lunchtime with the quaint clock suspended from the high ceiling at the front of this busy CBD caf?, possibly the only reminder of pre-privatised era of the Post, because here, service is brisk, friendly and attentive. Then again, why not sit in the snug corner at the antique wooden communal table and watch the suit-clad lot sip away at their coffees, munch on their vegemite toasted baguettes and fruit salads in the morning, or discuss their new ventures over ciabattas, salads and sandwiches over lunch?

Children are just as welcome ? freshly squeezed orange juice, mini danishes, friands, tarts and doughnuts are bound to keep them (and the child in all of us) happy.

Sandwiches in various forms perhaps make up most of the caf??s repertoire, and you can tell they?re serious about them when they offer three different types of baguettes (soft, campagnard and wholemeal honey wheat). Sophisticated filling combinations such as cheese, eggplant, artichoke, semi-dried tomatoes and rocket (as spotted in one tray of campagnards) will not disappoint. Coffees are good. Get up-close and personal with the barista and sit at the uber-cool stainless steel bar. Low tables and stools might not be something you?d expect from a good caf?, but judging by the continuous flow of diners, no-one?s complaining.
