Talk of the Town
446 Glen Huntly Road ELSTERNWICK 3185
|
|
Talk of the Town is a small outlet in the middle of Elsternwick that provides Lebanese food prepared in a traditional way. With skewered meat, cool salads and traditional desserts, it has become a well regarded and popular place. There is not a great deal of room to sit and eat, and therefore the majority of food is take-away. Outdoor seating allows you to watch the passing traffic, both vehicular and pedestrian, and enjoy your food in the fresh breeze with just a hint of ocean.

Fresh healthy food that tastes divine! TONNES of dishes - both meat and vegetarian. My all time favourite
is the Lamb Shish which is actually marinated high quality lamb pieces (not the salty fatty shave off the
spinning spit type!) with a mix of their dips and salads inside in a Lebanese wrap. I drive there specially at
least twice a week for it. The salads are fresh and not the kind you can get anywhere else. I'm very fussy
with take aways so for me this place is my kitchen away from home! Member Review by Guy MartinSubmitted October, 2009 I tried Talk of the Town after asking a friend for some good traditional middle eastern cuisine. He recommended it, and with justification as the food was fantastic. Starting with some vine leaf rolls (seasoned rice wrapped in vine leaves with a squirt of lemon, and following up with a "Shish Kafta" (minced lamb, garlic, herbs on a skewer) with Israeli salad (tomato, cucumber and onion) in a flat bread "roll", and finishing with the staple Baklava dessert and Lebanese coffee, it was a great dining experience that I have repeated a few times since. The staff were happy to help with my choices and questions, and were very friendly. They also greeted a number of people by name, which indicates a lot of return business and an interest in their customers. The food is always fresh and well stored throughout the day, which is no doubt a part of the 5 star hygiene award from the local council. The food is fresh and made on site, parking can be tricky in but you will always find a spot behind Coles.
