Member Review by Paul RitchieSubmitted October, 2009 The exterior was modernised a few years ago and no longer has its famous white stucco and black oak beam "Tudor" appearance but the ambience inside in the restaurant is the same as it ever was.
A large open fire place adorns the eastern wall in the dining area and during the cooler months, the real log fire casts a warm glow over that entire section.
The lights are dim, and the decor a chunky olde worlde wood and stucco, but the old bench seats and wooden tables have been replaced with modern furniture making a longer stay less damaging to the backside.
The fare is excellent. Large steaks and poultry dishes set with chips and vegetables or salad, or all three if you prefer, and the vegetables are cooked to retain their crispness and flavour.
An all you can eat salad bar with an enormous range including bean salad, potato salad, pasta salad, coleslaw and more means your average $17 - $25 meal will see you satisfied from dinner time to bedtime. In short, gorge yourself.
The deserts are also exquisite with a large range of fresh pavlovas, mud cakes, sponges, tarts, flans and pies. Prices range from $3 - $12.
