A small restaurant with a few tables and chairs in the front and several more out the back. The front of the shop is set up like a take-away (with emphasis on the bubble teas). Very nicely decorated inside and the seating at the back is not as crowded as in some other asian restaurants. The food on offer is traditional chinese/asian, although there are a couple of hard-to-find items on the menu and of course, the bubble teas.

Member Review by Guy MartinSubmitted October, 2009 Lygon Street is renowned for its large variety of Italian restaurants, so when a pokey little Chinese outlet suddenly appears in the middle of "Little Italy" its gives reason to wonder. Boba Pearl's mainstay is the ever-so-trendy Bubble Tea, but they also do quite a number of chinese dishes. I'm not normally one to have a lot of Chinese takeaway, but I was convinced to try something different, and so the delivery of some Fried Hor Fun.
Unfortunately the dish did not really live up to the same standard as their teas. The beef looked like the third white meat and seemed to be either overcooked, or reheated several times. The entire dish was bland with the only saving grace being the crispy snow peas.
It was acceptable, but only just. On the plus side the tiny curry puffs purchased as a side dish were full of flavour and texture. The food was delivered, so maybe eating on site would be better. Member Review by Simon SheridanSubmitted April, 2004 I've now eaten here twice, once in-house and the second time takeaway. The take-away was very good, if not a little bland. It was a seafood and fresh vegetable dish and relied entirely on the virtues of the ingredients, which were substantial. But it did lack a little spice.
The in-house meal was far superior. A pork noodle dish which was extremely tasty and apparently this is the only restaurant in Melbourne which does this particular dish (its of Singaporean style). Also had a chinese tea which was also very nice, although they did charge for it which is a negative given that other chinese restaurants in the city will provide the tea gratis. The restaurant itself is small but not too squishy and very nicely decorated. The service in-house was excellent and the delivery time for the take-away nice and quick. All-in-all, an above average Asian restaurant and good value for money.
