Member Review by cafuegoSubmitted November, 2008 The town hall hotel sets the standard for pub food. It's not just chicken parma or bangers and mash, but a good selection of pub classics and interesting novelties.
The quality of the food is reliably high and I've never had a bad meal at this pub.
The kitchen staff occasionally experiment with the bread, which is often made on-site. The cheese and mustard loaf was excellent!
Tip: breakfast with bubble & squeak on the weekends. Member Review by Doug RainierSubmitted August, 2008 With a huge number of pub/bistro/restaurants in the postcode, the Town Hall has remained a staple for many locals wanting simple, tasty food at reasonable prices.
The venue itself has a good deal of character, and is home to a few live bands on the busier nights of the week. You have the choice of dining in the back bistro area, or in the beer garden which has some great heated booths, and a pleasant ambiance on a sunny day or a quiet night.
Food ranges from the sizable parmigiana, to kangaroo steak, to thai beef salad and much more as written up on a chalkboard inside. On occasion, the kitchen staff has overdone the steak (I asked for medium rare but received well done) and the chips aren't always piping hot, but I forgive these small misses as in general it's tasty, fresh and reasonably priced.
