You go to Manchester Lane for the music, not the food. That said, you can have a very decent feed while tapping your toes to some live funk or jazz music. This place is great fun, the atmosphere is very lively- our plates were delivered by a dancing waiter more than once! Service was fast, friendly, efficient and despite the multi-level layout, everything seemed to run smoothly. I ate a very pleasant duck, pork & pistachio terrine ($14.50) for entr?e which was served with thick wedges of toasted ciabatta. My partner had a calamari salad ($16) with a weird but successful combination of fennel, orange, basil, chorizo and rocket flavours. My main was pappardelle with veal, mushroom, broad bean & green chilli ragu ($18.50) which was a bit overcooked but quite tasty. My partner had the rump steak ($24) which was a good sized medium rare steak with baked red onion, watercress, potato mash & red wine sauce.
Again, the desserts sounded really yummy but I didn?t think I?d make it to the dance floor if I ate any more food. Manchester Lane is a great night out where you can have an enjoyable meal washed down with a nice bottle of wine and then dance the night away to some groovy tunes.
