If you are really hungry, this is the place to go. All the servings here are big. In fact, big doesn't do them justice. Huge!

The restaurant has a nice ambience and the staff are always friendly. Though I am a teetotaller, it should also be noted that they have a well stocked bar.

Last night, I ordered some garlic bagles as an appetiser (best garlic bagles in melbourne) after which, I ordered the Veal american schnitzel (American being mushroom sauce) and my friend ordered the chicken schnitzel. After questioning whether we had eaten there before, the waitress took our order and not too long later the schnitzels arrived. A main course at Maxy's is served on a platter that most families at home would probably serve the sunday roast on. They are huge. Covering a full 1/2 to 2/3 of the plate is a schnitzel surrounded by some salads and either vegetables or chips (we both elected to have chips). When describing this food to friends, I normally use the term "Schnitzels the size of your head!" and they seriously aren't far off it. They aren't just big either, but high quality, excellent tasting, cooked to perfection. The mushroom sauce is most excellent as well.

A main course costs around the $28 mark there, but even at that price, it is fantastic value for money. Previous visits have shown me that the mixed grill for 2 off the menu will feed at least 3 or 4 people, quite possibly with food left to take home.

Maxy's also takes group bookings with a variety of banquets to cater for budget and tastes.

Highly recommend Maxy's and I guarantee that you will not leave there hungry.
