Pretty much every caf? manages a decent breakfast these days so a brekkie that can make you sit up and take notice has to be something special, which the Boyz for Brekkie is. Every time my husband and I meander down the Mornington Peninsula we must stop off at ‘The Boyz’ for a couple of REALLY sensational lattes and a yummy brekkie. A ‘Boyz Brekkie’ for him includes poached eggs, sausages, bacon, baked beans, tomato on light rye sourdough toast ($16) while I usually go for something a bit lighter like fig and walnut toast ($5.50) or muesli with macadamia nuts, sunflower seeds, brown rice currants apricots, apples, natural yoghurt and poached figs in mandarin juice ($9.50).
Breakfast is served ‘from dawn until dusk’ but the Boyz do a lunch and dinner menu as well. This is an establishment that does what it does extremely well- proficient, amiable service, exceptional coffee, yummy and generous breakfasts with free range eggs cooked to perfection (no dodgy, rubbery poached eggs here!) with a decent menu and wine list for other meals. I’m not sure if it is all of this or the fact that every time I go there I am heading towards the sun and sand of the gorgeous Mornington Peninsula, but I love this place and will certainly keep coming back.
