100% Please note: The reviews below are more than 12 months old. Member Review by Guy MartinSubmitted October, 2009 Never in my life have I seen such fabulous looking food. Gaylord ensures that their meals not only taste brilliant, but that they look magnificent too. Delicious beef curry on a bed of speckled saffron rice made its way quickly from plate to mouth and caused a minor gasp of delight. Samosas cooked to perfection, and some Naan meant that every scrap of edible product provided was gobbled up enthusiastically.
It seems that Indian cuisine in Melbourne is soaring making it a tough decision where to eat. For delivery to the city (through Moving Menus) Gaylord is the champion...for now. Member Review by Sarah NichollsSubmitted April, 2005 As you enter Gaylord, you cannot help but notice the d?cor of this restaurant is a little outdated. I like to think when I enter such establishments that the owners prefer to put their effort into good food rather than trendy aesthetics. Fortunately, in relation to the food at Gaylord, this assumption proved correct.
My companion and I attended the restaurant for a mid-week lunch and were rewarded with a restaurant practically to ourselves, attentive wait-staff and great food served quickly. We chose the non-vegetarian lunch special (chicken curry, lamb masala, dahl, saffron rice and salad greens and a serve of naan bread). All of this for the bargain price tag of $13.00!
We left Gaylord very content, very full and very pleased with our Indian find in Chinatown. I would not hesitate recommending it to friends and look forward to returning myself in the future. Member Review by DennisSubmitted February, 2005 The location is quite good, being on its own in a small laneway. It was not very busy when we were there, but they were pretty quick to serve us. The service was not the best, though, not very friendly or refined.
However, the food was very quick to be prepared and was of a very high quality. Very enjoyable meal at quite a cheap rate.
I would certainly go there again for the great food, but I think they should do themselves a favour and replace the prolific plastic plants that decorate the restaurant.
