100% Please note: The reviews below are more than 12 months old. Member Review by Guy MartinSubmitted October, 2009 Highway 31, for those who are cartographically challenged, is the route number for Sydney Road (and the Hume Highway beyond). Keeping in step with the roadway theme, the eatery of the same name is a motorcycle themed diner, with a particular focus on Harley-Davidsons and Indian motorcycles, of which one was formerly owned by Steve McQueen of The Great Escape fame.
Highway 31 (the diner) manages to go beyond the theme, and actually provide good quality and reasonably priced food, something which a lot of theme restaurants fail to do. If you drop in for a quick latte, you may be disappointed, but make a selection from the US Deep South inspired menu, and regret is the last thing you'll feel.
From Gumbo and Jumbalaya, to Chilli Cheese Fries and Blackened Cajun Chicken, there is a piece of Louisiana to be had by everyone, even if you don't own a Harley. Well worth a visit, Highway 31 has earned a reputation it deserves, along with the many accolades featuring on the front window. Most weeks they also feature live music in the flavour of Blues and Rock.
Oh, and for those interested the Brunswick HOG (Harley Owner's Group) meets at Highway 31 every 3rd Wednesday at around 6:30pm.
