100% Please note: The reviews below are more than 12 months old. Member Review by DominikSubmitted December, 2005 I wanted to go to Beetroot because I heard it was good. But it turned out to have really bad service. Went in there on the 29/11/2005 and one guy
was sitting down looking at us. Another was playing on his mobile. Then the girl
behind the counter said "it's order and pay at the counter and grab a table." There was no hello how are you. I was with a friend, we were both in suits and you would expect better service than that. We then went to "Eat Drink Bento" next door which was very good.
Maybe Beetroot had a bad day. But "Eat, Drink, Bento" was at the level you would
expect from a city cafe. To be fair they were actually restaurant grade. They were very friendly when we turned up, filled our water glasses frequently and in general the food was served fast and efficiently. It was also a great meal which is the most important part.
Member Review by Annie StevensSubmitted October, 2005 A Bento is my kind of lunch box. Enjoying a lovely day out with my mother we found ourselves wandering the food lovers delight that is Hardware Lane. Rather difficult to find, as is the case with most Melbourne bars or restaurants worth eating at, Eat Drink Bento is a gem. My mother chose the sushi bento which consisted of a selection of fresh and delicious sushi, a starter (fried nori rolls-fab!!) rice, pickled vegetables, and a little raspberry friand. While I indulged in the crumbed pork bento which also came with rice, that naughty little entree and a raspberry friand. The ambience of Eat Drink Bento is one of peace, which is complemented by attentive and bubbly wait staff. It definately out-does the soggy old sandwiches that are usually found at the bottom of a lunchbox.
