Dragon Boat Palace for Yum Cha on a weekend is an experience! But one that you should try at least once in your life time.

The waiting staff come around with trolleys laiden with plates, steamers and bowls of asian dim sim delights.

There are many dishes to try and the staff name each dish or steamer as they come around and you can also preview food that is in the steamers before you decide if you want to sample. As they say a picture can tell 1000 words.

I prefer the steamed dishes as the fried ones tend to leave you feeling a bit greasy later in the afternoon. You may also order dishes off the a la carte menu to supplement the dim sim if required, I have seen people do it but I have never needed to.

There is a docket on each table and the staff will write down each dish you choose and at the end of your meal - they simply add up what you have eaten.

The staff are bi-lingual - many speaking english, cantonese and mandarin. In terms of decor - the centre piece is probably a boat shaped chandelier that you see when you first enter. The bathrooms leave a little to be desired in the cleaniless stakes - so probably would not drink too much chinese tea, so you don't have to use them!

On average - a yum cha meal will cost between $12 - $18 a head. I find it's cheaper to go with a crowd as you get to try more dishes and also the price per head tends to come down.
