As Melbourne's first cabaret-free churrascaria (Brazilian barbeque), together with the fact that Bluefire is in a prime location on New Quay - it all sounds promising and you won't be disappointed.

The quality of the food is simply outstanding. It is perfect for lots of sharing and interaction between people, and in regards to value for money - it could quite possibly be without peer.

For under $50 you can try the 9 course churrascaria; the waiters bring skewers of grilled meat to the table until you can take no more, whereby you flip over a card from the green "More Please" to the red "NO MORE!". This type of service is called "Rodizio". Chicken, Beef, Chorizo, Pork, Calamari, Marlin and Lamb make BlueFire a meat-lovers paradise.
Aside from this all-you-can-eat bonanza, you can also order a-la-carte. The quality of the food, according to everyone at the table, was superb.

The service, however is mildly disappointing, taking over 90 minutes from ordering to start receiving the main courses, although the dips and bread meant the time travelled a little quicker. The waiters all encourage you to try Brazilian beer, or a Brazilian cocktail, but beware, with the beers costing upwards of $8 each, and the cocktail over $17, it certainly pays to find out what each drink costs. Water comes in the form of a bottle of San Pelligrino at $5 per bottle, so the drinks bill can end up being more than the food. Also ensure that you check all items on the bill, as we had to point out a double charging on a couple of items.

In all, BlueFire is a great place for meat-lovers, and the food is excellent. Service can be attentive but slow, and drinks may push the limits of your budget. Worth a visit for a special occasion, or when you are really hungry and can take advantage of the churrascaria.

We visited Bluefire for Christmas work function party of 9. In simple words if you like the sound of eating as much meat as you tum can handle save the bucks and visit on a Tuesday when the offer is half price. That way you wont be too disappointed. Took an hour to be served dips, another hour for the vegies to come, by this stage it was quite late and who can digest a tonne of meat late at night!. Meat was just ok, its all cooked on a slowwwwwww BBQ (maybe thats why meat took so long to be served)and served out on a huge skewer and sliced in front of you, Can choose from: rockling, calamari, pork, lamb, beef, chicken and sausage. The concept sounds great but beleive me one plate of meat is all you'll be able to get thru, so once again Tuesday's the day to visit, not any other day when it will cost you $65 a head- this including shocking non existent service unless of course you keep ordering rounds of drinks, those waiters are only too happy to be at your call.

What is a "good" restaurant? Do you leave a good restaurant with a bitter taste? Poor service and good food answer this question as a definite no, poor food and good service ... well it depends on what you ordered, but poor service and poor food well the answer is a resounding yes.

The sad part is this is a new and well-promoted restaurant with the manager's lack of interest complimenting the staff's ... this restaurant wants to be good in the vibrant and competitive sphere of the Docklands but its people don't share the same objective.

Anniversaries are supposed to be special moments ... our first wedding anniversary, one to be forgotten - the service received was special ... and that's in a bad way. The cold and uninviting concierge "greeted" us and unfortunately that set the tone for the rest of the evening.

We both ordered "crispy" calamari for entrée ... misleading in title and cold when served they were tender but disappointing.

My wife ordered steak ... which was cooked as ordered and beautiful and tender, the scalloped potatoes that accompanied it were indeed raw and merely served for presentation only.

I had fish and chips for my main with a cube of chunky home made chips totalling one potato (which were fortunately cooked) the fish accompanied by a mustard/tartare like sauce ... the taste did not compliment the beer battered fish fillets which were passable but the batter wasn't crisp and neither was the service. Bland and uninspiring.

The décor was nice with plasma TV screens displaying a rotisserie out back for their catch cry grille. The tables all covered with white cloths, excellent presentation ... but the room was cold ... much like the food and staff.

We had given two courses a try after the bad impression of entering Bluefire ... we felt we would not entertain the prospect of desert as our mood was now far from sweet.

Upon raising our concerns with the manager and being assured he would be in contact to prove this was not the image they were out to portray - my phone has not rung and I can assure you his wont be ringing either.

The night was bitter and so is the aftertaste after my concerns were definitely not taken on board. This is not a "good" restaurant.
