Giardino Pizza
Pizza/Pasta
550 Glen Huntly Rd
ELSTERNWICK 3185

The first thing that stands out about Giardino's is that it is exceptionally clean. There are about three tables inside if you want to sit down and eat, but the majority of the trading done is takeaway. Using both traditional and gourmet toppings, and always fresh ingredients, you can see why they are busy most nights of the week. The usual vegetarian options are available.

Excellent service and Food Quality means that I'm prepared to pay a bit more and go a little further out of my way than normal. My usual toppings were fresh and of high quality, and the bases didn't have much oil or grease at all.

I did go on a Friday night, so there was a bit of a wait (40 minutes) but well worth it. Try the Tandoori Chicken, or for those looking for a snack, the garlic pizza is great as well.

Being relatively new to the Elsternwick area I am eager to experience the local restaurants in an effort to find a few favourites. All in all, Giardino's proved that it will be on the list from here on.
The pasta was cooked al dente and done to perfection. With a busy and happening atmosphere - perhaps even a bit too happening - this couldn't be avoided, the popularity of the location was obvious. While I didn't get a chance to try the pizzas, they are apparently extremely well worth it.
They appeared short-staffed the night we were there and therefore forgot a few things, like our bottle of water, but the wait staff were so friendly that it didn't matter.
At the time of settling the account we were informed that they only accept cash payment and we were $1.00 short. After we stood there for a few minutes pondering our situation, they told us with a huge smile not to worry about the $1.00.
A location to definitely add to the list of favourites, and well on the way to being one of the local casual pizza and pasta hang outs worth returning to.

THE BEST PIZZA IN MELBOURNE...not much more can be said !

But take cash because they don't accept cards!

Recent Update they have opened a dining area which seats around 60 indoors....but still be prepared to wait as when they are busy this place pumps out 120 pizzas per hour
