The nice thing about going to The Point at night is the view of the lake glistening under moonlight. I love driving to Albert park, it's always so quiet and serene unless they are hosting yet another wedding. They seem to do a few. Although upstairs you would not know. All you can hear is the other patrons and the quiet clinks of cutlery carving up the exquisite food.

A handy thing about The Point is the parking. It has never been hassle which is nice compared to some other flash restaurants in the city or St. Kilda. I always seem to get a spot close by.

Now to the restaurant. I have been there a few times including once with my in laws and it was my mother in laws birthday. I though we should go there since we had been before and knew they would like it. You walk into the building and up some stairs. Before entering the restaurant you see some of the steaks and the wine they have. You also walk past the cellar which you can dine in. From there you can see the tables are all quite close to the window and look out onto the lake. They are laid out nicely all the way up to the kitchen.

We sat down, looked at the wine list and menus and chose our wine and meals. The wine waiter was not the best but did well to get by. That was the only thing that was a little disappointing. We had our entrees which were great but the mains were the best.
My wife and father in law had the wagyu steak which is a must try. They have a great variety of steaks with the majority of the premium ones from King island in Tasmania.
I am more of an entree / dessert person and the point always has mouth watering desserts. Although the entrees are also well worth a try and change regularly.
Another bonus to the night was that they gave a complimentary dessert platter at the end which was not just a great gesture but a great way to cap off the evening. It had happy birthday on it in chocolate sauce for my mother in law.
In summary the point has great food and a great location. It's also very romantic on a nice clear night.
